Green Postal Day 2025 : Posts around the world mobilize for the climate

Green Postal Day, celebrated on September 18, marks global postal cooperation in favor of decarbonization. As key players in the transport and logistics sector, postal operators are fighting climate change and promoting more sustainable practices internationally. This day is an opportunity to highlight the initiatives and progress made by postal services to achieve their reduction C02 emissions targets.

On the occasion of the seventh edition of Green Postal Day, global postal operators announced that they had reduced their collective CO2 emissions by more than 31 million tons. This is equivalent to removing approximately 6.7 million average-sized cars from the road for one year. The postal services have committed to achieving a 50% reduction in CO2 by 2030, as well as other sustainability goals :

  • Using 75% energy from renewable sources in company buildings ;

  • A vehicle fleet comprising at least 50% alternative fuel vehicles, including at least 25% electric vehicles ;

  • 50% sustainable packaging ;

  • 75% of waste diverted from landfill recycled or reused.

Global cooperation for the climate

Green Postal Day highlights the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing in addressing today's environmental challenges. For example, after focusing on reducing their CO2 emissions related to last-mile delivery, postal operators will now work on decarbonizing long-distance transport. Another lever for action to achieve the 2030 target is real estate. Increasing the share of renewable electricity will be crucial in reducing the carbon intensity of postal operations. Solar energy is being adopted by some postal services, and the adoption rate is expected to increase in the coming years.

La Poste Groupe, a key player in decarbonization in France

La Poste Group's commitments and actions are recognized by the leading non-financial rating agencies, which rank the group among the world leaders in ESG.
