At everyone's service and of use to each individual, La Poste is a people-oriented company with a local presence that develops exchanges and builds essential links by contributing to the common wealth of society as a whole.
By giving itself a purpose, La Poste is formalising its commitment to conducting its business in a responsible manner by being useful to everyone. This purpose anchors its desire to accompany society in its major transitions - digital, territorial, demographic and ecological - by building a bridge between its history and the world of tomorrow.
A bridge between the history and future of La Poste Groupe
This raison d'être projects La Poste into the long term, but it also builds a bridge between the desirable world of tomorrow and the company's history.
The public interest has always been at the heart of La Poste's concerns. Since its creation in the 15th century, it has connected citizens throughout the country. It is the only European postal service to perform four public service missions :
The universal postal service, contributing to social cohesion and balanced regional development.
Regional development, through a postal presence throughout the country.
The transport and distribution of newspapers and magazines, essential to democratic pluralism.
Banking accessibility, thanks to free, simple and essential banking services.
La Poste, a mission-driven company
In 2021, La Poste also became the first French public company to adopt the status of a mission-driven company, also introduced by the PACTE Law. Through this voluntary approach, La Poste has placed its social commitments at the heart of its business model and the group's strategic plan.
La Poste's four social commitments
In line with the company's accounting and financial objectives, these social commitments are broken down into quantified indicators that enable the reality and effectiveness of the efforts undertaken by La Poste Group to be verified. Compliance with these commitments and associated objectives is assessed annually by a Mission Committee, and the indicators are verified every two years by an independent third party (OTI). In doing so, La Poste places ecological and societal transitions at the heart of its strategy and makes social commitment the cornerstone of its model, on which the group's future is built.
